Hemp Yarn

Using a chemical-free processing method, this yarn was made from Romanian hemp. The hemp fiber retains its natural integrity, the chemical-free yarn is gentle to sensitive skin, and no harmful residues were released into the environment during processing.

Peroxide, not bleach, is used to create the white yarn. Natural and fiber-reactive dyes are employed to dye the variegated yarn, without the use of heavy metals or other toxic substances.

I categorize the hemp yarn below as weaving yarn, but it can also be used for beading and fine knitting.

I usually warp this yarn at 24 e.p.i. This sett gives a firm, yet supple, fabric when washed. For knitting, I suggest U.S. size 3 (3.25 mm) knitting needles, with a gauge of approx. 7 sts/in.
