This lovely towel is woven using an overshot weave structure. In this method, two wefts are used, one for the pattern and one for the base fabric. In this case, the red yarn created the pattern, while the green formed the underlying fabric. The pattern is called "Susan Ross."
Handwoven towels turn necessity into luxury. Indulge yourself every time you use one!
Everyday tasks such as drying your hands and doing the dishes become exceptional when using a handwoven towel. When you pick it up, you remember you are holding an individually made, comforting item that slows and calms your life, a towel that was woven by hand in my studio and was not simply one of thousands mass-produced in a noisy industrial factory.
I wove these generously-sized towels from 8/2 unmercerized cotton. The twill fabric is soft and absorbent. All my handwoven towels are pre-shrunk.
